This is Part 3 of 5 in a blog series about waiting. Click here to read Part 1 and Part 2.
“Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” Psalm 25:5 ESV
If the Bible is true. . .
Psalm 18:30 ESV: “This God – his Way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.”
. . . and the Bible says I can trust in God. . .
Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your path.”
. . . then I can trust God in the waiting.
Psalm 26:1-3 ESV: Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heart and my mind. For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness.”
And as I trust in the waiting:
- God will keep me from shame (even when my pride creeps in and I need to remind myself that waiting is not a sign of weakness): “O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.” Psalm 25:2-4 ESV
- God will teach me (how to trust, even when I don’t see the results I’m waiting and hoping for): “Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” Psalm 25:5 ESV
- God will hear my prayers as I pray for wisdom and discernment. . . and patience: “I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.” Psalm 40:1 ESV
- God will answer my prayers (not necessarily in the way I ask Him to, but refer to the aforementioned comments about pride and patience): “But for you, O Lord, do I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.” Psalm 38:15 ESV
How are you trusting God, even as you wait?
