It’s A Lot

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV

I started my new job just over one week ago – a new town, new school, new grade level, new colleagues, new processes and protocols.

It’s a lot.

That’s all I said when people asked me how the new job was.

It’s a lot.

I felt like things were under control for the first four days. On the fifth day I woke up and had one thought:

What have I done?

I hadn’t doubted my decision to change jobs until that very moment. . . and then many moments after. Did I correctly follow God’s direction? Was my decision based in Godly wisdom?

The following morning I went for an early-morning run as these thoughts echoed through my mind. I was so sure when I signed my new contract, but now I doubted (exhaustion will do that to a person). I thought it was the right decision, but now it’s uncomfortable, and new, and a lot

But then I turned my head and saw this:

I almost missed it because my attention was on my doubts, but I looked at just the right time and saw a visual reminder of God’s mercy and faithfulness.

Sunrises always amaze me, how they appear and don’t last long, yet they come back every morning. And every morning I need to remind myself to trust. . . not just a little . . . but a lot.

I need to remind myself to lean on Him. . . not just a little. . . but a lot.

I need to remember to acknowledge Him in the decisions I make . . . not just a little. . . but a lot.

So rather than dwell in doubt, I will read Biblical truth (well, I should probably sleep first) because the God who was faithful in the Bible is still faithful to me today.

So I will acknowledge His faithfulness. . . a lot.

In what ways are you doubting things God has made clear?
