‘Forever (We Sing Hallelujah)”: Easter’s Not Over

Revelation 11:15 ESV “Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.’”

Easter Sunday has passed. But the implications of Easter Sunday remain.

Because when Christ rose from the dead on Easter, He rose for eternity.

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.”

Hebrews 1:3-4 ESV

Pause here with me. He rose for eternity. He’ll come again, but He won’t come to die again.

Once was it. Once was enough.

Let’s see what Scripture says about Jesus after Easter.

He is in Heaven

  • Luke 24:51 ESV “While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.”

Seated in Heaven at the right hand (the place of honor) of God the Father

  • Acts 7:55 ESV “But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.”
  • Ephesians 1:20 ESV “that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places.”
  • Hebrews 12:2 ESV “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Reigning

  • Luke 1:33 ESV “and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

Forever

  • 2 Corinthians 9:9 ESV “As it is written, ‘He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.’”
  • Hebrews 13:8 ESV “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
  • Revelation 5:13 ESV “And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!’”

And this Jesus, who is in heaven, seated at the right hand of God the Father, reigning forever, loves me. . . wow.

Just wow.
