“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have kept his way without turning aside.” Job 23:10-11 NIV
In March of 2023 I was packing to move. Where I would eventually land, I didn’t know (and I still don’t), but I did know that God was providing me a way out of a living situation that was no longer healthy for me. (I also didn’t know He was preparing a way out from a job that was no longer healthy, either.) On March 2nd and 4th, these were the verses that popped into me email first thing in the morning. Below are the notes I wrote in my journal each day.
“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have kept his way without turning aside.”
Job 23:10-11 NIV
- He knows the way, not me
- closely followed His steps, not mine
- kept to His way, not mine
- without turning aside – “turning” is an action, and it’s hard to resist
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 NIV
- do not be afraid/ do not be discouraged – interesting pairing of fear and discouragement
- will be with you – not might be with me; not ahead or behind me, but with me
- wherever you go – not just some places
So God will be with me wherever I go. . . and at this point in my life I don’t want to go where He’s not leading me. So I’ll wait and watch, pray and be patient, and read and be ready.
What are you waiting for God to lead you out of? How are you watching for His leading?
